Every year, the Ford Automotive Co. Releases a Trends Report highlighting several cultural and marketing trends that will have the biggest impact for the coming year. That information is gathered on a website and made available to the public, tailored to marketing professionals in the automotive space and at large.
The building of that website and creation of it’s assets were given to a team I was working with, consisting of animators, web developers and myself. I was tasked with creating a series of custom illustrations, highlighting each topic and it’s subtopics and laying them out within the framework of the site.
I evaluated the Ford Teams’ data points and narrative and developed rough sketches based on this information. Through a series of weekly meetings with stakeholders, those concepts were presented at the sketch phase until the below result was achieved.
The result is an illustration style that is consistent with previous iterations and updated with more depth overall and detail and expression on the figures. The color palette went through a series of iterations until one was selected that reflected the broad and lively nature of the subject matter. I built the design in a way that was digestible and accessible for animation. It was also necessary that they be modern to connect with the audience and reflect the style of the typography before laying them out in clean, consistent fashion. The full result can be viewed here.
